Goodie it's my turn. Sorry for the slow response - back at school.
From my meagre cd collection I think I would take
1. My 60's compliation cd. It's a double cd so there's lots of variety.
2. Jagged Little Pill, Alannis Morrisette. Great cd for when you're feeling pissed off.
3. My peaceful classics cd. For when I feel like chilling out. It has my favourite classical piece on it - Pachebel's (sp?) Canon
4. Tracy Chapman. it's one of her latest and I can't be bothered getting up to check the title. Again good for chilling out.
5. My (I can just hear the gasps of horror) disco compilation cd. I love to work to the disco beat and you never know when repairs will need to be done to the hut.
6. Janis Joplin- greatest hits - must have Piece Of My Heart on it.
Let me see, hmmmmm, I nominate... PollyE!!!

Lots of good songs from the 60s. And I love Janis Joplin's Mercedes Benz.

She does the best version of Bobby McGee too.
The disco choice will also come in handy for scaring off any head hunting natives who happen to visit the island.

Janis is amazing. That voice is just pure and utter raw emotion.
I'm currently going through a bit of a 60s vibe myself Meg, though I can't say I share your love of disco (which is my worst genre) I understand the beat thing. I do housework to heavy metal.
I'm enjoying this thread, thanks for your contributions. I'll compile the results when people finish.

Settle petals
I could listen to these forever. They encapsulate all that is good about life and love.
My list:
BVSC Presents Ibrahim Ferrer – Dance like no one’s watching
Passion for Opera Aria I&II – I couldn’t settle on one so I opted for a compilation. If compilations don’t qualify it would be a toss up between Don Giovanni and La gazza ladra. I'm not a huge opera fan but it's something I grew up with and I couldn't imagine not having it around. To me, it sounds like home.
In the Aeroplane Over the Sea by Neutral Milk Hotel – The only thing in my stereo at the moment. I love this album.
My Favourite Things by John Coltrane – It makes me happy
Darklands by The Jesus and Mary Chain – I was going to put Psychocandy but chose this one for sentimental reasons. Psychocandy, for me, is the epitome of rock and I love it to bits but Darklands is just wonderful to lay back and listen to.

Oo I loved the BVSC and it's various spin-offs. I saw the Afro-Cuban Allstars when they came to Perth and had a fabulous time. I do like the Ibrahim Ferrer album as well - heavenly piano playing. The BVSC movie was fabulous as well.
Yep, John Coltrane is great to relax with - tres cool.

It seems that I have the most sophisticated taste in music so far (although I'd rather take books).
Since Polly forgot to name a successor, it behoves me (as the last one before Polly) to choose the next person.
I choose....Zeds!

Thanks Meg.
It's interesting to see the diversity of musical choice.
