Chanel too much? Just the odd comment now and then makes me think Marcia really isn't too fond of her. Anyone agree or disagree?

Marcia's comments to Chanel - taken from the official site.
Australian Made - Marcia thanked Chanel for being such a unique individual. Pop Theme - Marcia recognised that Chanel knew exactly what she had to do. Marcia thought it was great to see someone so comfortable. 60's Theme - Marcia said that the rest of the girls in the competition are pushing themselves and that is what Marcia would like to see Chanel do.
I agree Chicagoholic, I don't think Marcia likes her - it's not just the comments, but her body language that gives her away. Marcia would never outright say anything nasty, but the lack of warmth towards Chanel is obvious - especially when you go back and compare how she comments on the others.

I dislike Marcia immensely this season
Mark Holden was on the radio tonight and basically said, yes, he's tired of Marcia's meaningless comments.
NOT EVERY PERFORMANCE IS F***EN FABULOUS!!!
(my own words, not Holden's)

I think Marcia is incapable of saying anything critical of any of the Idols but I agree, it's all in her body language! Chanel needs to find a way of varying her performances - she's great, I love her but each week it's becoming more of the same. History Repeating was fantastic.

I just want to see Chanel hit those big notes. I know she said she prefers the diminished notes..but in this competition especially, you have to go out of your comfort zone sometimes.
Funnily enough, it's Mark that I'm agreeing with most this season. I'm thinking about seeking help for it..Lol

Yeah, I'm not sure Chanel's in the right competition. Her singing style is probably too subtle for Idol.
I still think "Glory Box" was Chanel's best performance. I've downloaded it and listened to it a couple of times...just brilliant and probably the best performance of the competition.
History Repeating was superb also, but she did kind of push the grunting of 'history repeating' a bit (the third time near the end of the song sounded incredibly forced). She should have just done it once, or twice at most, not 3 times.

I have to agree with that, maxwell. There's no doubt about her talent and Idol is giving her lots of publicity - hopefully the right sort.

IMHO she just carbon-copied Shirley Bassey with that song I agree Zeds. I thought she just sang it the way Shirley Bassey does, and was very disappointed that she didn't make the song her own. I guess a lot of people thought by doing the rough voice on History Repeating was her own idea.

Marcia is a pain in the arse....this business of blubbering everytime someone leaves the show is getting a bit old....she's just doing it on purpose to get herself on Channel 10's Idol promos

I either haven't heard the Shirley Bassey version or can't remember it, so I can't really comment on whether she carbon copied the delivery of the song or not, but I will say I wasn't quite as impressed by History Repeating as I was by Glory Box (which blew me away).
I haven't heard the original version of Glory Box, but I love the way Chanel sang it.

Whoa...after that comment on the disco show from Marcia....yep, it doesn't seem like Marcia does like her too much...

I thought Marcia was downright bitchy to Chanel on the disco show, wasn't it something like "after i've done a bad performance, i don't like people to remind me of it". I actually hadn't noticed anything bad about it. What I saw was again a delightful person with a spark of originality and a lack of garden variety showbizness pushing herself in her performance to move around the stage, approach the audience and make a song her own. She always breathes originality and dynamic into her covers. It was a great song choice, by the way. Chanel's goal in the audition line was to fill in the gap on TV where there should be more articulate, flat chested size fourteens, if i remember correctly, and her wit and talent is evident in her singing, clothes choice and banter. Marcia's judgement of Chanel as just "quirky" is just a tired pideonhole which Chanel doesn't really fit into and i guess that's it, Marcia just doesn't seem to get her and for some reason has taken exception to her (again, i thought her comment "quirky and cute" was said in a deprecating tone, "original and gorgeous" could be another way of putting it.) Anyway, I think Chanel is sublime and Hayley is a bit of an angel too. and really, our opinions are just one long log on stream of consciousness and it's just the people and their actions that matter and there's a long path ahead much further than this competition. i hate competitions and i think it's kind of gross that people get so self-righteous about their opinions becuz in actual fact, they're not right, that's not it, the end, so be it, it's just an idea and it'll keep travelling, so people need to be responsible with those ideas as well as to know that they're transient too, and you can travel with them or let them drift through. but hey, who gives a fuck, this really means nothing to a lot of people anyway , so just do your thing and make the most of it.
