Please note: the real winner of Australian Idol (barring Simon Fuller) is the person who receives the most votes leading up to the night of the grand final. That person was Casey. Anthony is currently more successful than Casey. That still doesn't make him the winner.  Anthony doesn't need to be an Australian Idol winner to be more successful than Casey, that makes Anthony the REAL Winner in Music world.  |

He may currently be beating Casey in "the music world", but if you're treating that as the new competition, I think you have a few other contenders to worry about...there is more to the charts than Idol contestants, and a lot more popular people than Anthony or Casey.

Anthony hasn't beaten Casey at anything yet. It is not known how many cd's Anthony will sell. The gloating by Mrs Callea and company is premature.
Anthony LOST Australian Idol. You can claim that he is the real winner as much as you like but it does not alter the facts.

Just now Channel 10 news also announced "Anthony beats Casey" Anthony is a real winner! At what? Even if his single has gone to No 1, it will have to be there for two weeks before it beats Casey's |

You know, the last time I checked 2 was a better chart position than 1111111. Yeah, Anthony will kick Casey off the number one spot because The Prayer is such a better song than Listen With Your Heart... but how many great performances did Anthony actually give? That one performance pretty much guaranteed his spot in the final because the rest of his performances certainly didn't do him any favours. If someone had looked like Lawrence Sorbello but had Anthony's voice, do you really think they would have even got to the top 5? Back in my day kids had to ask their parents to use the phone. I ask you, who is looking after the children?  Back in my day we also didn't have mobile phones... well, we did, but they were the size of those SAS radio things. Anthony will have a number one single and maybe a number one album, but his career will burn out much faster than Casey's will. |

Anthony has dedicated fangirls who would (for now) chase him anywhere and buy anything he releases.
Casey supporters are a little less committed. They would say "Oh, I won't buy the single because it is such a bad song" or "I won't buy her album because I heard most of it at the Sanity site, and I only liked a couple of songs."
There is nothing wrong with the approach of Casey supports (I won't call them "fans"). In fact, it is quite healthy.
But this means she won't become a chart sensation until and unless she produces a critically-acclaimed masterpiece.
Simply put, Casey supporters are "instant music critics". They are prepared to argue with Anthony fangirls and defend Casey, but their support for the girl is very much conditional.
In contrast, Anthony has an army of fangirls offering unconditional support, which really makes him an "idol" (if not "The" idol).

I think the fundamental difference between Casey supporters and Anthony supporters is that Casey supporters have more of an interest in the music, whereas Anthony supporters have an interest in the looks and stuff like that.
I look forward to Casey's first real album where she gets to have more creative input and record it in a more realistic time frame. By then she'll be in her late teens and have matured more.
