It's not like a fantastic movie, and has some drawn out scenes I admit, but some inspired ones too, so overall I found it amusing. However, the fact Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom are in it, might have something to do with my staying power.

I really enjoyed LAKE HOUSE
It is predictable but it's one of those movies you go just to take your mind of real life for awhile.
there hasn't been much on screen that has been unique or exceptional
I really wanted to see WATER it's a Indian movie she also produced FIRE and EARTH which were extremely controversial and insightful
WATER is about Child brides/ Widows and their place in Hindu society - it's fascinating

My Neighbour Totoro.
Watching it with hubby and 3 year old and we are all loving it. I love Miyazaki's visuals. Something very simple like raindrops falling on puddles can be quite beautiful. Or raindrops falling on Totoro's nose making it quiver up and down. And the cat bus is really quite psychedelic.

For some reason I watched Memoirs of a Geisha, thinking a girly movie was on the cards.
i've never been so bored, and frankly, didn't even care about the ending of it. My mother gave me the movie, so at least I spent no money on it. Problem is I have so many good ones I could have seen, and I can never get back those hours now.
My girly instincts tend to lead me astray at times.
I totally agree Frynn about Miyazaki's visuals.
my first of his films was Spirited Away (lovely Ganesha recommended this to me) and I was blown away. My children also adore his films, so it covers so many levels and shows great wisdom for discussion point with your younger kids. Just a simple thing like the train on the water just totally hit the spot for me. So metaphoric.
I think he also has such a keen eye for a child's journey into adulthood.

I had to toss up among Totoro, Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle and ended up buying Totoro becuase I knew we could all enjoy this one together. When the children are a little older I'll buy the other two.

The Constant Gardener
Good film, a very poignant "grown up" love story within the context of political and corporate corruption and intrigue.
Ralph Fiennes at his best. I wanted to marry him by the end of the film.
