Well TCG and Mr TCG and myself rocked up to see Bob.
A mixture of oldies and children of oldies were in the audience and I have to say long hair and dreads seemed to be the fashion accessory, which was great to see. Admittedly long grey hair seemed more obvious, so i fitted in well *thank you l'oreal chocolate mocca*
The Frames were the supporting act, and whilst I knew nothing of them aside watching on You Tube and thinking oh dear a little melancholy for an Irish band, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by a couple of their tracks. I always feel sorry for supporting acts as the audience really want the headline and I want to jump and scream and cheer them on regardless, as Perth can be lukewarm as an audience. Interestingly they mentioned their last gig was at the fly by night, a beautiful tiny venue in Fremantle which I love. Suddenly to be supporting Bob would have been a bit different and lacked the intimacy. I cheered the fly by night anyway.
However Bob was on fine form. You couldn't help but be in awe of this legend stood in front of you. A career that has spanned highs and lows and yet he still is there. He applied the same blues/rock format to all songs so they were fresh and you almost had to guess ah my god, that's it ain't me babe!! Even Rolling Stone, the encore was fresh and exciting and you have to marvel at the guts of someone to totally pull apart an original song and still get away with it.
I'm sure many a traditionalist would have suffered, but I wouldn't think many would bulk at an innovator still innovating. I adored it and was happy to meet up again with TCG and Mr TCG and happy little concert goers and a busy walk home at how great he truly is.
Massive respect for a legend and to spend a couple of hours with him.

Let the traditionalists suffer! Bob's a genius. Yep, it was a great night and it was wonderful to see all ages in the audience - just shows what a broad appeal he has and how his fans have stayed loyal over the 40+ years of his career. I quite liked some of The Frames' songs too but we spent most of their time on stage standing in the crowd or looking for our seat so I couldn't really give them my full attention. We enjoyed the walk home, too.
