Persephoney - really - is that your real name - or is it fake? ?? I recall Persephone the real got taken down to the underworld. She was a girl with an interesting life. I'dve thought someone who wanted to call herself Persephone would love Chanel. Maybe you do and you just wanted to provoke us all into an affirmation fest for the only original talent above ground! So thankyou - whoever you really are.

Pathetic, Pathetic, Pathetic. Anyway who spends their time and energy bagging idols they don't like are pathetic. I hate hearing shit like 'oh but i know the REAL Chanel and I KNOW that she's fake!' The truth of the matter is no one knows CHANEL! It's funny how people can judge so easily yet when the fingers pointed at them, they gringe, get angry and bit back. Why would you bother creating a topic about someone you don't like. Seems like a huge waste of time to me. Why don't you just support the idols you do like and stop being so damn hurtful to the ones you don't. It's just so pathetic. Personally I have no idea where the whole Chanel being fake idea is coming from. It's seems a rather stupid sort of discussion. She's so obviously a talented performer with a lot of depth and a unique personality. If people can't accept differences then the world is obviously turning into a very sad, shallow world.

I don't know Chanel. In fact, I may never know Chanel, just as I may never personally know 99.99% of celebreties out there, but I don't think that deprives us of the right to call things as we see it. I don't know what kind of person Chanel is, but the emphasis is she's coming across as fake. She looks like she's pulling a cutsie act to compensate for the ordinariness of her voice and her demonstrable lack of versatility.
I saw right through her act on day one. Maybe because I happen to be unfortunately acquainted with pretentious artsy students and musicians hence am particularly sensitive to insincerity and facades.
But we all see things differently and I don't intend to argue that someone's seeing the world differently to me and I don't appreciate being told that I'm seeing the world wrong either. At the end of the day, only Chanel knows herself, so just because someone purports to make a statement of fact, learn to translate it as mere opinion.
Cheerio.

That seems like a fair enough statement.

How are any of us supposed to know if Chanel is being fake or not? Only Chanel herself as well as those who truley know her could possibly know the truth. It seems pointless to debate something to which many of us will never know the answer. Something I completely disagree with though, is that she's compensating for an ordinary voice. I suppose that's a matter of opinion, but it is clearly not an opinion expressed by quite a few individuals who appreciate Chanel's uniqueness. I don't think having a good voice should be defined by how hard you can belt it out. I appreciate the sweet, seductive tones which we constantly hear week after week during Chanel's performances. To myself and to many of her other fans she is truley exceptional and I really appreciate what's done for this competition.

Hjk - you're missing the point but if the italics in Kay's response don't make sense then you'll never understand. Obviously you're bewitched like the male judges. She might not be fake - but it comes across as fake, almost like she's trying to be Marilyn Monroe - it wouldnt surprise me in the least if she came out singing "Happy Birthday Mr President"!

Personally Chanel isn't coming across as fake to me at all. That's a matter of opinion.

Hey guess what Bec? I'm a chick and I think Chanel's a great performer. She's my favourite contestant as a matter of fact. You are completely wrong if you actually believe it's only the male voters who like her and continually to keep her in the competition. As for being fake.......I think that's a pretty pathetic statement! She's one of the more real people on the show and please don't call yourself a good judge of people if you can't see that.

I agree with Joy. I am also a woman voter and a fan of Chanel. She is far from fake, I think that she is probably the most vulnerable contestant Some creative people are a bit more emotional than others, she's probably putting on a bit of a protective suit of armour (sex kitten) on stage to protect herself. You go Chanel! perform your little cotton socks off! Oh... that doesn't mean strip by the way!

This whole 'australian idol' thing is about acting and performing. What is Chanel actually faking. If she is faking the sex kitten thing she does at times she does it well - hey isn't that call acting.
Does your criticism allow for people to have a personality which doesn't neccesarily fit into the mould. Is everyone out their who is calling chanel a fake got a mono-personality or are you the type that is always constantly appears super confident (or do you fake it), congratulations if you are. Don't you feel more confident in some situations than others. I've heard that people can be one thing off stage and when they perform all their former shyness disperses (not that chanel is shy), but you know what i mean.
Chanel is certainly creating a huge impact good and bad, she's made a big impression on her critics, are you closet Chanel fans. there's a saying 'if you don't have anything good to say don't say it', why don't you try it!
