My friend just had her Driving test today and failed. However the only reason the instructor gave for her fail was that she was "driving to slowly".
BUT my friend was only driving, at most, 5 kms under the speed limit at all times. Every other part of the test she did prefectly (manouvres etc).
I am really peeved about this.........do they want us to speed then? geez...........
The instructer was one of those old, grumpy types too.

That's awful!- Is that an automatic fail? Was she really only going about 5 km under I've heard that really slow drivers cause more accidents which would be a reason to fail but not for only 5 km under!

I think that's a bit rough.
But I do remember when I was taking driving lessons being told that you could be picked for driving too slowly in the right hand (passing) lane of the freeway.
My friend was actually recently pulled over by a cop for that "offence" so I guess it's not acceptable.

There was no freeway! Just a busy suburb on the Gold Coast.......... And yes it was only 5kms under..........its not like it was 15 under or something (like some people!).......
*sigh*...

*too* slowly. You or the driving instructor needs to go back to school and learn better English.

I was brought up with the strictest of the language. What sort of sentence do you (of all people) think this is? Where's the noun after the adjective?

Ooohh! Did I stuff up? ;D I think that the grammar rules (but not spelling ) have changed a lot over the years. My pet hates: "should of" instead of "should have" "Michael and me were so......" instead of "Michael and I were" "me and Fred went to" instead of "Fred and I went to...." "I was sat" - instead of " I was sitting"

I think too slow is bad.
He may have put her slowness as lack of confidence. Nothing worse than someone crawling along and hesitating.

That's crap! My friend failed her first driving test for "unsafe driving" or something because she took her hand off the wheel to brush the hair from her face...did the instructor think it was safer for her to drive with her vision obstructed?!

It was definetly interpreted as a lack of confidence Doglover. I know that" Competence with Confidence" is their motto. I am learning to drive and my driving instructor warned me about it.
