I agree with u there Frynn about With of Without You
With Arms Wide Open - Creed
Well I just heard the news today It seems my life is going to change I closed my eyes, begin to pray Then tears of joy stream down my face
With arms wide open Under the sunlight Welcome to this place I'll show you everything With arms wide open With arms wide open
Well I don't know if I'm ready To be the man I have to be I'll take a breath, I'll take her by my side We stand in awe, we've created life
With arms wide open Under the sunlight Welcome to this place I'll show you everything With arms wide open Now everything has changed I'll show you love I'll show you everything With arms wide open With arms wide open I'll show you everything ...oh yeah With arms wide open..wide open
If I had just one wish Only one demand I hope he's not like me I hope he understands That he can take this life And hold it by the hand And he can greet the world With arms wide open...
With arms wide open Under the sunlight Welcome to this place I'll show you everything With arms wide open Now everything has changed I'll show you love I'll show you everything With arms wide open With arms wide open I'll show you everything..oh yeah With arms wide open....wide open

Ok. So this is going to be a downer but having known a few kids who did this I have to put Adam's song here.
I am very aware of my son and his mates and what can be a crap time. Any parents of teenagers (especially boys) should really 'know' their kids well. This song allowed me to discuss it with my son
I never thought I'd die alone I laughed the loudest who'd have known I traced the cord back to the wall No wonder it was never plugged in at all I took my time, I hurried up The choice was mine, I didn't think enough I'm too depressed, to go on You'll be sorry when I'm gone
I never conquered, rarely came 16 just held such better days Days when I still felt alive We couldn't wait to get outside The world was wide, too late to try The tour was over we'd survived I couldn't wait till I got home To pass the time in my room alone
I never thought I'd die alone Another six months I'll be unknown Give all my things to all my friends You'll never set foot in my room again You'll close it off, board it up Remember the time that I spilled the cup Of apple juice in the hall Please tell mom this is not her fault
I never conquered, rarely came 16 just held such better days Days when I still felt alive We couldn't wait to get outside The world was wide, too late to try The tour was over we'd survived I couldn't wait till I got home To pass the time in my room alone
I never conquered, rarely came Tomorrow holds such better days Days when I can still feel alive When I can't wait to get outside The world is wide, the time goes by The tour is over, I'd survived I can't wait till I get home To pass the time in my room alone

I haven't heard Adam's Song but thanks for posting up the lyrics. I think suicidal thoughts are very common during adolescence - more common than people would want to think. It's such a confusing and emotionally turbulent time of life. I can only resolve to try and keep a stable and loving home environment for my children as they grow up.

I remember when I was 16 and always outside riding my skateboard or going surfing with close friends. Then you get a car and start hanging out in clubs drinking and partying, you sort of stop doing the sports that you love. You end up meeting different groups of people and all of a sudden the friends you grow up with are hanging out with someone else. You start doing casual drugs and although you are high on the weekend, you feel low during the week. You want to stay thin so you virtually stop eating and you start to spiral down. Its at this point that bad thoughts creep into your head that it would be easier just to slip away, than to go on. I got so far away from the real me. Its funny that when you stop doing drugs and alcohol you go back to those things that you love, surfing, skating again. Its a wicked game.

The pressures are huge on you at this time and you feel the most alienated. I'm glad you got through it though. I agree drugs and alcohol alter your state of mind for the worst. Thanks for posting this. I did wonder whether to go the "Adam's Song" route, but it's a subject we don't discuss enough.

"ALL BECAUSE OF YOU" by U2 is mine for today
I was born a child of grace Nothing else about the place Everything was ugly but your beautiful face and it left me no illusion
All because of you All because of you All because of you I am..... I am
I like the sound of my own voice I didn't give anyone else a choice An interlectual tortoise Racing with your bullet train
Some people get squashed crossing the tracks Some people got high rises on their backs I'm not broke but you can see the cracks You can make it perfect again
All because of you All because of you All because of you I am... I am
I'm alive I'm being born I just arrived, I'm on the floor Of the place I started from And I want back inside
All because of you All because of you All because of you I am.... I am

When I heard this I was like I can so relate to this! I love the lyrics in this song....
JOHN MAYER - My Stupid Mouth
My stupid mouth Has got me in trouble I said too much again To a date over dinner yesterday And I could see She was offended She said "well anyway..." Just dying for a subject change
Oh, another social casualty Score one more for me How could I forget? Mama said "think before speaking" No filter in my head Oh, what's a boy to do I guess he better find one soon
We bit our lips She looked out the window Rolling tiny balls of napkin paper I played a quick game of chess with the salt and pepper shaker And I could see clearly, An indelible line was drawn Between what was good, what JUST slipped out and what went wrong
Oh, the way she feels about me has changed Thanks for playing, try again. How could I forget? Mama said "think before speaking" No filter in my head Oh, what's a boy to do I guess he better find one
I'm never speaking up again It only hurts me I'd rather be a mystery Than she desert me
Oh I'm never speaking up again Starting now
One more thing Why is it my fault? So maybe I try too hard But it's all because of this desire I just wanna be liked I just wanna be funny Looks like the jokes on me So call me captain backfire
Oh another social casualty Score one more for me How could i forget mama said "think before speaking" No filter in my head Oh whats a boy to do? I guess i better find one
I'm never speaking up again It only hurts me I'd rather be a mystery Than she desert me
Oh I'm never speaking up again Starting now

I love that song! I can still remember the first time I heard that song. I had, in fact just shot my mouth off at someone that loves John Mayors music. That was actually very similar to what happened

Okay, a real one this time:
Perfect Day.
Just a perfect day, Drink sangria in the park, And then later, when it gets dark, We go home. Just a perfect day, Feed animals in the zoo Then later, a movie, too, And then home.
Oh it’s such a perfect day, I’m glad I spent it with you. Oh such a perfect day, You just keep me hanging on, You just keep me hanging on.
Just a perfect day, Problems all left alone, Weekenders on our own. It’s such fun. Just a perfect day, You made me forget myself. I thought I was someone else, Someone good.
Oh it’s such a perfect day, I’m glad I spent it with you. Oh such a perfect day, You just keep me hanging on, You just keep me hanging on.
You’re going to reap just what you sow, You’re going to reap just what you sow, You’re going to reap just what you sow, You’re going to reap just what you sow...

All is fair in love; love's a crazy game; Two people vow to stay in love as one they say
But all is changed with time; the future none can see; the road you leave behind. Ahead lies mystery.
But all is fair in love. I had to go away. A writer takes his pen to write the words again;
All in love is fair. All of fate's a chance; it's either good or bad. I tossed my coin to say to say in love with me you'd stay
but all in war is so cold you either win or lose; when all is put away the losing side I'll play.
But all is fair in love; I should have never left your side. A writer takes his pen to write the words again that all in love is fair;
A writer takes his pen to write the words again that all in love is fair.
I adore Stevie Wonder.

I don't like his 80s stuff, but his 70s stuff, including that album, is downright brilliant. Doesn't top Perfect Day, for me, but still brilliant.

I don't think much about the lyrics. I think they are secondary to the music. I must admit, I have to agree with you 100% Meg. The music always appeals to me more than the lyrics. I really only get to know the words of a song if I like the music.

Another song I am loving at the moment would have to be State Of The Heart. Written by Eric McCusker and performed By Mondo Rock, it's a beautiful song and I haven't been able to get it out of my head since hearing it live 10 daze ago.
I know your name I've told you mine We've stopped and passed the time of day You work in town I work at night That gives us six until seven to work this out
If I seem a little strange It's just the state of the heart I'm waiting here for you In the state I'm in
You are the moon I am the sea You pull me in and gaze on down at me I was alone I thought I was immune It's good to know The door can still be open wide
If I seem a little strange It's just the state of the heart I'm waiting here for you In the state I'm in
If I seem confused It's just the state of the heart I wait in the dark In the state I'm in
If I seem a little strange It's just the state of the heart I'm waiting here for you In the state I'm in
If I seem confused It's just the state of the heart I wait in the dark for you In the state I'm in
It's just the state of the heart You know I wait in the dark In the state I'm in
It 's the state of the heart State of the heart The state of the heart State of the heart
Woe, oooo
The state of the heart State of the heart The state of the heart State of the heart

Brandy - Have You Ever?
[Chorus] Have you ever loved somebody so much It makes you cry Have you ever needed something so bad You can't sleep at night Have you ever tried to find the words But they don't come out right Have you ever, have you ever
Have you ever been in love Been in love so bad You'd do anything to make them understand Have you ever had someone steal your heart away You'd give anything to make them feel the same Have you ever searched for words to get you in their heart But you don't know what to say And you don't know where to start [Chorus]
Have you ever found the one You've dreamed of all of your life You'd do just about anything to look into their eyes Have you finally found the one you've given your heart to Only to find that one won't give their heart to you Have you ever closed your eyes and Dreamed that they were there And all you can do is wait for the day when they will care [Chorus]
What do I gotta do to get you in my arms baby What do I gotta say to get to your heart To make you understand how I need you next to me Gotta get you into my world 'Cuz baby I can't sleep [Chorus]
